Part 1: Video Interviews of 2010 Chicago Gay Pride Parade

June 28, 2010 · 8 comments

Yesterday at the 2010 Chicago Gay Pride Parade The Marin Foundation was rolling almost 30 deep (consisting of the scope of our organization from secular LGBT people, to gay Christians to celibate to ex-gay to liberal and conservative straight Christians to secular straight people) who were all wearing black shirts with the words

I’m Sorry

in white across the chest. This was, the I’m Sorry from the Church Campaign 2010. The point was to talk, engage, apologize, demonstrate what true reconciliation looks like amongst our diverse group all the way to the broader community. We had our I’m Sorry posters, shirts and humble attitudes to bear witness to living our life and faith in such a way worth living (pictures to follow in subsequent posts).

Here is a news clip from last night done by CBS News in which we appeared and were interviewed. I actually was interviewed by the reporter for quite a while, and what actually showed up was only a brief moment. But none the less, the message was sent. (And yes, I will be hitting her up to see if she wants to do a full story on our work :) ).

Also, here is Video #1 – The Intro to our time yesterday:

Much love.

Oh, Andrew. You “self-described Christian”, you. Thanks for being there. :P

Love it. You need to bundle the shirts and signs for next year so we can all do the same at our local pride parades…

What an idea! That’s awesome. So….. guess what we’ll be putting together for next year?

It was awesome. I didn’t know how people would react, but it was person after person after person coming up to us wanting to talk-cry-laugh-just feel loved. There was a huge crowd, and right there was a bunch of black shirts with white I’m Sorry! So great.
