Pastor handbook: Teach difference between holy and common; settle disputes between believers according to God’s ordinances; keep Sabbath holy; letting God be their only inheritance – only possession – letting Israel provide the rest. Ezekiel 44:24-30

Forgiveness of sins is for everyone, even those committing them unintentionally or out of ignorance. Ezekiel 45:20

1-11-10:

Money and power are heavy, weighing you down, drowning you. Give it away and rise up others to partake in this adventure with you before you destroy yourself. Ezekiel 27:25-26

Faithfulness to God’s call in your life is not about the outcome, more so about the obedience in what God asks of you in the face of odd circumstances. Ezekiel 33:1-20

What will you do? (Ezekiel 33:12-20):

¹² “Therefore, son of man, say to your countrymen, ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not save him when he disobeys, and the wickedness of the wicked man will not cause him to fall when he turns from it. The righteous man, if he sins, will not be allowed to live because of his former righteousness.’ 13 If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but then he trusts in his righteousness and does evil, none of the righteous things he has done will be remembered; he will die for the evil he has done. 14 And if I say to the wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ but he then turns away from his sin and does what is just and right- 15 if he gives back what he took in pledge for a loan, returns what he has stolen, follows the decrees that give life, and does no evil, he will surely live; he will not die. 16 None of the sins he has committed will be remembered against him. He has done what is just and right; he will surely live.

 17 “Yet your countrymen say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But it is their way that is not just. 18 If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, he will die for it. 19 And if a wicked man turns away from his wickedness and does what is just and right, he will live by doing so. 20 Yet, O house of Israel, you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But I will judge each of you according to his own ways.”

Trying to shift long-standing paradigms throughout religious culture doesn’t always work; sometimes even for God. Ezekiel 18

Guess I didn’t realize the Sabbath was a life or death situation? Looks like I need to take it much more serious. Ezekiel 20:13

“You want to be like the world, but what you have in mind will never happen” says the Lord. We can’t run from who we are! Ezekiel 20:32

Jesus’ inverted hierarchy came because those with power continued to abuse and oppress those without, and God was tired of it. Ezekiel 21:25-27

When the Lord blesses you with worldly successes, don’t start trusting in them and pimping yourself like you accomplished something. Ezekiel 16:14-15

12-2-09:

‘The measures you use to judge others will be used to judge you’ is a very serious statement—life and death literally depends on it. Ezekiel 9:3-10

What you fear, and thus, bring against others is the same medium that the Lord will bring to awake you of your own actions. Ezekiel 11:8

This can’t be any clearer: God brings judgment because you “have conformed to the standards of the nations around you.” Ezekiel 11:12

Wearing religious paraphernalia in combination with speaking from the Lord means nothing when not done in fear of being wrong. Ezekiel 13:12-23

12-1-09:

If God individually told all of us in detail how we would be persecuted because of our belief, would you still publicly do His work? Ezekiel did. Ezekiel 3:25

Ezekiel didn’t just call the Israelites out, God said he had to bear their sin for 430 days lying on his side. So why do we complain again—God hasn’t asked us to bear even our own sin. Ezekiel 4:4-8

The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away—I envy not Ezekiel who was the sole person to communicate in painful detail how the Lord was going to take from the Israelites because they turned their back on God. Ezekiel 6-7

If there is one thing that really gets God all worked up, it’s man-made idolatry. Amazing how the lesson still isn’t learned? Ezekiel 8:5-16

What is My One Sentence Bible?

11-30-09:

Just imagine to one day actually see the radiance of the glory of the Lord—will we be able to describe it as easily as Ezekiel? Ezekiel 1:28

The perfect model of humble faithfulness to God’s calling is sprinting forward in what is asked by God—not continuing just because of the perceived outcome we think should happen. Ezekiel 2:3-8

Faithfulness is more than just listening, it’s also praying for a shield surface on your head to deflect the haters. Ezekiel 3:8-9

Whether people listen or not, our job is to be faithful in relation to and relationship with; not be faithful to the outcomes we think are right. Ezekiel 3:10-11

Faithfulness = “whether they listen or fail to listen”. Are we to be outcome driven or faithful servants? Which are you? Ezekiel 2-3
